We specialize in nonfiction, mostly Scientific and Technical with emphasis on Social Sciences, Biological Sciences and Computing Technology.
We also publish books of local interest to Southwest Virginia, and by local authors. However, if we really like a book, we will publish it regardless of subject matter. As a small press we can publish books that large publishers consider “too niche” or “won’t sell enough copies” . Unlike a large press Altera Press can afford to produce books that might appeal to a small niche.
